Cascade hops are the most widely used hops by craft breweries in the USA. Cascade is a variety of hops developed in the U.S.D.A. breeding program in Oregon and released as a U.S. aroma variety in 1972. It originated from a cross between a female Fuggles hop and a male Fuggles hop with Russian Serebrianker hop parentage. The Cascade hops were named after the Cascade mountain range that runs through Washington State and Oregon.

What are Hop Plugs
Hop plugs are whole hop cones compressed into a convenient 1/2 oz. plug. They are most useful for aroma and dry hopping. Leaf hops are whole hop cones primarily used for aroma hopping and dry hopping. Imported pellet hops and domestic pellet hops are the most commonly used hop form for homebrewers and microbrewers. The pellets are hops that have been shredded and compacted at harvest and are excellent as bittering hops.
Why Use Hop Plugs?
Plugs are better than loose hop flowers for many reasons. A major problem with loose hop flowers is that they have a lot of surface area, so they spoil rapidly. Plugs are better protected from oxygen and are sized to fit well into the mouth of a carboy for dry hop additions. It's fashionable to call loose hops "fresh hops," but they're often quite stale!
