Challenger Hops have an aroma variety from Britain with a mild resiny character (not too unlike East Kent Goldings) Challenger is a granddaughter of Northern Brewer a niece of Northdown and second cousin of Target. One of the few recognized dual purpose hops combining moderate amounts of alpha acids with a good kettle hop aroma. It is used as the aroma hop in Orkney`s Dark Island and along with other hops in many English Bitters.
